trek in the High Atlas Mountains – Imnane Valley, including logistics and itinerary:
This short trek (3 days of walking) is best done as part of a longer stay in Morocco. You wouldn't fly in just for this — but if you're already planning a trip to Morocco and wish to stretch your legs and explore one of the most beautiful regions of the High Atlas, this is a perfect choice!
You'll need to be in Marrakech the day before the trek starts, as departure is at 8:00 AM on Day 1. If you prefer to stay in a different hotel the night before, we'll deduct the accommodation cost (about €35) and let you know where to meet the group on departure morning.
All bags will be carried by mules. You'll just carry a small daypack with your daily essentials. If needed, you can leave some of your luggage in Marrakech for the rest of your Moroccan trip.
The High Atlas is a paradise for hikers. It's home to North Africa's highest peak, Mount Toubkal (4,167 m), and spans nearly 1,000 km across central Morocco. While its sharp peaks challenge experienced mountaineers, it also offers gentle valleys and ridges ideal for moderate hiking.
This 3-day trek allows you to explore traditional Berber villages, such as Imi Ouglad, Imesker, Ounskera, and the scenic Imnane Valley, and cross the Tizi n'Tamert Pass (2,279 m).
You'll need two bags:
Main bag (carried by mules): clothes, toiletries, towel, sleeping bag or liner.
Daypack: sunblock, sunglasses, hat, windbreaker, warm fleece, water bottle, snacks, camera, etc.
Wear comfortable, waterproof hiking boots with Vibram or similar soles. Bring rain gear (not a poncho), and be prepared for sunny and windy weather. Lunches will be picnics.
